Helio Santos

Helio Santos is a Mexican artist with a background in painting and digital art, working at the intersection of digital media, AI, and technology. His practice explores the complex dynamics between humans, nature, and machines, using landscapes as a conceptual vehicle. Viewing technology as both an extension of the body and intellect, Santos critically examines society’s evolving relationship with the digital realm. Blending generative AI, creative coding, and computer vision, his work presents a fusion of digital and painterly textures. His compositions are rich in layered colour and fragmented forms, evoking impressionistic yet glitch-inspired landscapes.

Some pieces are created using hundreds of AI-generated landscape images, processed through a custom algorithm designed by the artist, resulting in works that oscillate between generative art and abstract expressionism. Santos’s art embodies a sense of both nostalgia and transformation, reminiscent of deconstructed memories or digitally eroded paintings.
